Hobo Nickel; Knight, Death and the Devil Coin Ring

  • Sale
  • Regular price $135.00

This coin ring features Roman Booteen's adaptation of Albrecht Durer's 1513 "Knight, Death and The Devil" and in the tradition of authentic Hobo Nickels is carved from a 1921 Morgan Silver dollar. The term hobo nickel is generic phrase referring to any denomination coin which has had its original artwork altered into a new design. Traditionally these would be created the homeless from a nickel, which would in turn be sold for extra cash, hence the name Hobo Nickel. The reverse design was also originally featured on a Morgan silver dollar, creating a rare “double obverse” Silver Hobo Nickel. Inspired by the mythology that surrounds trees, a twisted and ghoulish tree representing  all that makes us wary on a dark night in the woods.

This coin ring starts off as a 1921 Morgan Silver dollar containing .7734 oz of pure Silver and makes an incredible ring for any Hobo Nickel collector.

Coin Ring Features:

  • Obverse: Features Roman Booteen's adaptation of Durer's "Knight, Death and The Devil".
  • Reverse: depicts a twisted and ghoulish tree perpetually covered in snakes that coil around its trunk and branches.
  •  Intricately detailed on a 1921 Morgan Silver dollar.
  • Available in antique or high polish finish.

Awesome

I couldn't be more impressed with the quality and finish, the pictures really don't do it justice.
